Parks master plan nears completion; committee to preview draft in April

Staff said the parks and community services master plan is wrapping up, consultants delivered chapters and a GAPS analysis, and the committee will review the draft April 28 before staff brings it to council.
Community Services Director Doug Storey told the committee the Parks and Community Services Master Plan process is approaching completion and that chapters are being delivered by consultants.
Storey said the consultants (RHA and Best Next Practices, Inc.) provided facility, park and amenity assessments and a GAPS analysis that maps where amenities are located and how far residents must travel to reach them. He said the master plan will give the city a 10‑year framework that helps staff align grant requests and capital spending with a documented plan.
Staff said they will present the draft master plan to the Parks and Recreation Committee on April 28 and later bring it to the city council. Committee members thanked staff and consultants for extensive community outreach and noted the plan’s value for long‑term capital and programming decisions.
The committee voted to receive and file the report.
