The Albany County Legislature authorized an agreement with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to accept a $16,780 snowmobile-trails grant that will fund trail maintenance by two local snowmobile clubs in the towns of Vernon and Knox.
Deputy Commissioner Allen Romer of the Department of Parks and Recreation told legislators the award is this year’s annual snowmobile-trails grant and that the funding will be passed to two local clubs for trail maintenance; Romer said there is no cost to the county. Romer identified himself at the meeting and presented the award amount.
Legislator Jeff asked to be added as a cosponsor on the measure and asked that Legislator Smith be added as a cosponsor as well; the request was noted before the Legislature moved to approve the agreement. A motion to authorize the agreement was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The authorization also amends the 2025 Department of Economic Development, Conservation and Planning budget to record the grant award and related disbursements to the local clubs.
