Several residents raised a nuisance and public-safety concern at Peacock Creek during the council’s public-comment period, describing repeated littering, discarded drug paraphernalia and an out streetlight.
Glenn Miller, a resident who said he lives near Peacock Creek, brought photographs and described finding syringes, bottles, cans, cigarette butts and other debris down the hill from the viewing benches. “This is disgusting,” Miller said as he described an accumulation of trash collected over the holiday period. He asked the council what it intended to do about recurring litter and safety concerns.
Council members acknowledged the complaint; Council Member Diaz said staff would look into whether there is a garbage can at the site and follow up on streetlight maintenance. Several other residents in the public-comment period — including Scott Denslow and Rosie Stratka — said they shared similar concerns about trash and lighting at Peacock Creek.
The city did not take a formal action on the item during the meeting, but Council Member Diaz and staff indicated they would investigate the streetlight outage and possible trash‑receptacle options. Staff noted that placing a receptacle creates an ongoing collection and maintenance obligation, and that some issues may be best addressed through increased patrols or community cleanup events.
Residents asked the city to report back on specific corrective actions and on timing for light replacement and trash removal. City staff confirmed they will inspect the location and follow up with the reporting council member.
