Marysville Public Library reports higher visits, circulation and programs in 2024

Lisa Derking, who represents the Marysville Public Library's children’s services, briefed the council on the library's 2024 activity and said it was her first time speaking to the council. Derking said the library submitted its Kansas State Library report and reported nearly 17,000 visitors in 2024, an increase of about 500 over 2023. She said physical circulation was about 27,500—up from roughly 24,000 the prior year—and that including e-books and audiobooks raised the total circulation to about 34,000.
Derking told the council the library offered roughly 510 programs in 2024, an increase of just over 100 programs from 2023, and said those events drew nearly 6,000 attendees. She described her work in early childhood and elementary programming and invited council members and residents to visit the library and attend events.
No formal council action was taken on the library report. Several council members thanked Derking for the presentation and commented informally on the role of library programs in the community.
