Commission approves rezoning for 1142 Eighteenth Street North to University Mixed Use

Kress said the area had been rezoned en masse to UMU in 2009 and that individual property owners had the opportunity then to opt out; the current owner is asking to be rezoned to match surrounding parcels. Kress said no development is proposed at this time and that the change would align the parcel with nearby university-oriented uses.
Applicant representative Andy Scatfold was present but no members of the public asked to speak. Commissioner motion and second were recorded and the vote carried: Peppcorn: aye; Kolpak: aye; Strand: yes; Turnberg: aye; Mahoney: aye.
The city attorney prepared an ordinance for first reading; the commission approved the rezoning on first reading and the ordinance will return for subsequent readings as required by city code.
