The Metro Flood Diversion Authority on Jan. 20 approved its 2025 cash budget of $424,055,689 and received a finance committee report that included $4,670,034.75 in bills approved by the committee.
Finance committee chair Mayor Dardis reported the authority’s net cash position of $304,861,402 and provided historical sales‑tax collection figures: since 2018 the county’s contribution totaled $113,951,386 and the city’s $344,000,902.586 through November of the prior year. Dardis said the authority is taking a conservative approach and treating sales‑tax revenue in 2025 as essentially flat compared with 2024 for budget‑planning purposes.
Dardis told the board that the 2025 cash budget includes roughly $27 million in Minnesota projects for 2025, itemizing amounts the packet lists (Clara Cemetery $2,000,000; Wolverton $15,000,000; Georgetown $1,010,000 — as discussed in the meeting packet). The board approved the cash budget by roll call.
Staff also provided a sales‑tax update showing year‑over‑year growth in collections of about 3.48% for the most recent reporting period. The board discussed Minnesota lobbying and legislative outreach efforts but noted Minnesota funding decisions remain in the hands of Minnesota legislators.
The board approved the budget by roll call and will move forward with the 2025 cash plan.
