Commission revises CTE and wellness adoption schedule; publishers face new pre-bid dates

The Tennessee Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission changed several dates in the Schedule E adoption timeline for CTE and wellness materials and reported preliminary publisher interest during its Jan. 10, 2025 meeting.
Commission staff said the March 13 meeting (10 a.m., at Davy Crockett) will be the next step in the adoption timeline. Publisher-related schedule items were adjusted because earlier dates fell on weekends: the virtual pre-bid conference and official publisher-notification dates were changed to Feb. 7 and Feb. 18. Staff reminded publishers that the official intent-to-bid deadline is Feb. 7, 2025.
Lee Houston, staff presenting the timeline, provided preliminary counts of publishers who have indicated an intent to bid in specific areas: physical education and wellness (6 publishers), advanced manufacturing (15 publishers) and information technology (5 publishers). Houston described these as preliminary numbers; official bids are due by the Feb. 7 deadline.
The commission approved the timeline changes by roll-call vote. Staff said they will post the revised schedule and notify publishers through the department’s channels.
