Resident alleges workplace harassment and warns of access issues with Greene County human services during public comment

A Greene County resident who identified herself only as Leanna used the Feb. 6 public comment period to say she was fired from Children and Youth Services after raising concerns about an administrator and to criticize the county for failing to reach vulnerable residents.
“My name is Leanna. I have been a member of this county for quite a while. I've worked for the college. I volunteered for the VFW. I've worked for CYS,” she said. Leanna told commissioners she was fired from CYS after raising concerns about then‑administrator Mark Starsango and what she described as repeated harassment claims.
Leanna urged more outreach to and support for teens, LGBTQ people and immigrant families, and raised environmental and health concerns she said are tied to local industry. She also said she is pursuing a child sexual‑assault case and described difficulty accessing resources: “I've seen the hurdles that these resources have, and I've seen each commissioner... We tiptoe around the issues in this county instead of addressing them.”
A county representative who spoke during the public comment period said the intention of the department is not to overlook people in need and that the county has not denied meetings. “I can tell you the intention of our human services and us as a county is not to overlook people in need. That's not the intention... We have never denied anybody a meeting,” the staff member said, while also noting confidentiality for many case meetings.
Leanna said she plans to attend future meetings to press these issues. Commissioners did not take formal action during the public comment period; no staff report or independent investigation was announced on the record during the meeting.
