Greene County commissioners place bridge design work, proclamation and small allocations on agenda; approve tax refund

Commissioners voted to place on the agenda PennDOT technical and price proposals for design work on Bridge 35 and Bridge 105. Jeff, a staff member who presented the item, clarified that the county match for these Transportation Improvement Program funds will come from Act 13 bridge improvement funds. He added that those Act 13 bridge improvement funds are separate from the county’s annual Act 13 allocations and are restricted to projects on an improvement plan. “These are not our Act 13 funds,” Jeff said; “they’re allocated to us, but it’s not part of our annual allocation.”
The board approved a payment of $3,573.64 to Charles R. Patterson and Vicky Patterson, a refund tied to a tax-assessment appeal on parcels listed in the meeting as 07-10-615 and 07-10-615-B2. Gene, identified in the meeting as the county solicitor, said the appeal had been filed in February 2018 for the 2019 tax year and “for some reason, it slipped through the cracks” and was not settled until 2022. Commissioners approved the refund per the solicitor and controller’s recommendation.
The commissioners also approved modest allocations related to burial expenses for an Army service member: $75 for widow burial expenses and $100 for a headstone.
The meeting closed after the board noted seven notices on the agenda for review and then adjourned.
