Commissioners table resolution setting tax collector pay for 2026–2029 pending more information

Franklin County commissioners moved Feb. 5 to table a resolution that would set the rate of compensation for tax collectors for the four‑year term beginning in 2026. County staff said the recommendation mirrors a 2018 resolution and would index pay increases to the Consumer Price Index – U (CPI‑U) on a November‑to‑November basis.

Carrie Kenny, county staff, told commissioners the CPI‑U ranged from 2.7% to 7.1% in recent years and that, if applied as recommended, tax collectors' pay would have increased about 19.7% across the four‑year period from 2022 through 2025. "The recommendation is that the increase in the tax collector rate of pay be set at the CPI‑U for a rolling 12 months," Kenny said.
