The Dayton City Commission voted to approve the city manager's recommendations, including an addition to the agenda to award a contract for an accelerated downtown streetscape project and other administrative items.
City staff said the added item was a contract award to O'Hale Irrigation (listed in the manager's report as the lowest and best bidder) for a streetscape project that was originally scheduled for 2025 but was accelerated in order to complete work before a major May event. The scope described at the meeting includes constructing new sidewalks and landscaping bed beautification on Third Street from Ludlow to Jefferson and on Main Street from Fourth Street to Second Street. The manager said four bids were received and O'Hale Irrigation was recommended as the lowest and best bidder.
In the same motion the commission approved other city-manager docket items that staff highlighted, including the Safe Wear purchase order for the police shoot house (reported separately) and routine administrative matters. The manager said the streetscape acceleration required timely award because every couple of weeks can affect contractor scheduling ahead of spring construction.
The commission moved and seconded acceptance of the city manager's recommendations and approved them by voice vote.
Staff said additional project-level details, final contract amounts and timelines would be available as contracts are executed and that the accelerated schedule would not increase the overall project cost to the city beyond the awarded bid package.
