Board approves contracts, policy update, collective bargaining agreement and asset write-offs; multiple purchases cleared

The Tacoma School District Board of Directors approved a slate of consent and business items during its Jan. 23 meeting, including policy revisions, interlocal agreements, construction and purchasing contracts, a resolution to write off missing assets and ratification of a collective bargaining agreement.

Key outcomes the board voted to approve at the meeting included revisions to Policy 2255 (Alternative Learning Experience programs), two interlocal agreements with Federal Way School District to reimburse services for students attending private schools, multiple construction and procurement contracts and the ratification of a collective bargaining agreement with the Building and Construction Trades Council AFL-CIO.

Several items were adopted by voice vote where all present board members stated “Aye.” The board used roll-call votes for the fixed-asset write-offs and the collective bargaining agreement; both roll calls recorded 4–0 in favor.
