During the Jan. 13 public-comment period, Flanders Lautner urged Denver City Council to investigate the city’s investments in Israeli bonds and to consider a cease-fire resolution regarding Gaza.
Lautner said the council had refused to approve a cease-fire resolution previously and called continued purchases of Israeli bonds tantamount to supporting companies he listed — including Lockheed Martin and Raytheon — that he said were contributing to the conflict. "Please do more. Please look into the Denver investment in Israeli bonds," he said, and compared funding the Israeli government to historical examples in heated language.
Lautner also defended harm-reduction advocates who support safe injection sites and said opponents of those measures "have absolutely no idea what they're talking about" because they lack direct experience with addiction. His comments combined complaints about international policy with local health-policy debate.
The remarks were part of the general public-comment period; no council response or formal staff action was recorded in the Jan. 13 session.
