The Davis Senior Citizens Commission voted to schedule two off‑site meetings in 2025, one in May and one in October, and discussed planning and outreach for those events.
Commission leadership presented a proposed schedule and said outreach planning requires lead time; staff noted that some community newsletters and locations have early deadlines for event listings. Commissioners discussed ideal timing — citing local cycles of engagement in the fall and the national Older Americans Month in May — and agreed two site visits would be most practical for 2025.
A motion to schedule two off‑site meetings in May and October 2025 was offered and seconded; the motion carried with multiple ayes and one member recorded as opposed. Commissioners clarified that the off‑site meetings should focus on locations where older adults congregate but need not be limited to age‑restricted housing; suggestions included senior housing communities, faith institutions, the public library and outreach at the farmers market as an additional engagement option.
Commissioners agreed staff would compile a list of candidate locations (senior housing, faith‑based sites, library facilities and other community gathering places) and present a short list at the February meeting for final selection and scheduling. A commissioner volunteered to contact potential locations and to coordinate newsletter and agenda submission deadlines.
The meeting also recorded routine procedural approvals earlier in the agenda: adoption of the meeting agenda and approval of the Sept. 12, 2024 minutes on the consent calendar. Those motions were passed by voice vote earlier in the session.
