The Common Council voted Feb. 3 to refer a proposal to vacate roughly 750 square feet (the westerly portion) of Wingate Street east of Stockhausen Lane to the Plan Commission for recommendation and subsequent public hearing. City Community Development staff said the vacation would facilitate a We Energies campus consolidation behind the Piggly Wiggly site and would allow the company to combine properties for a single campus.
Staff said the project is expected to create a small cul-de-sac and that We Energies will construct the cul-de-sac and address utility terminations and any needed private sanitary- and storm-sewer arrangements. "We've been working with We Energies on that and it'll be part of the agreement that they'll actually build the cul-de-sac," staff said. Notice to neighboring property owners and utilities will be part of the next steps; staff expects a preliminary resolution, public hearing and final resolution in subsequent meetings (possible March or April dates reported).
Council voted to send the item to Plan Commission; staff will draft the preliminary resolution and notify property owners and impacted utilities.
