The Tyler Planning and Zoning Commission approved a rezoning from AG (agricultural) to C-2 (general commercial) on a single lot located west of the northwest intersection of Old Noonday Road and West Grande Boulevard to allow an operator to run a dog daycare.
Planning staff said the property had a prior history of animal care uses and that departments reviewing the request did not anticipate significant impacts to services or facilities. Of three mailed notices, staff said none were returned in favor or opposition. Staff performed a technical review and recommended approval; the request also included amending the future land use designation from single-family medium-low density to general commercial.
Amy Gass, who spoke at the hearing and identified an address in county road area, indicated support for the application. No public opposition was recorded. The commission moved and seconded the staff recommendation to approve; the motion carried with no recorded opposition.
The rezoning will be forwarded to the City Council for final action per ordinances governing zoning changes.
