- Wastewater injection well mechanical integrity testing/permit renewal: Council approved an authorization for CDM Smith to prepare testing and permit renewal documents for the city’s injection well system to support submittal to FDEP.
- Temporary moratorium on new car washes and self‑storage facilities: Council approved a 180‑day temporary moratorium on new car washes and self‑storage facilities in order to review and possibly revise development standards; motion carried 4–1.
What council did not finalize today: Council set direction for several follow‑up workshops and hearings: Bayfront Center options (workshop to solicit community input and FEMA implications), City Hall rehabilitation steps and procurement for project management and roof work, and continued work on the Land Development Regulations (LDR) review. The council also asked staff to pursue an opinion from the Florida Attorney General about whether certain LDR provisions adopted after the special act governing post‑Ian changes are “more restrictive” and therefore void ab initio.
The council asked staff to return with the ordinance/resolutions and applicable documents for public hearing or formal adoption where required.
