Chicopee Human Resources Committee approves two commission appointments

The Chicopee City Human Resources Committee on Jan. 14 voted unanimously to appoint Denise Landerbilt to the city’s License Commission for a six-month term ending June 1, 2025, and to appoint Timothy Foley to the Golf Commission for a term expiring Nov. 1, 2028. The committee also approved minutes from its Dec. 5 meeting.

The appointments were introduced during the committee’s meeting with no public input offered for either item; committee members moved and seconded the motions and approved both nominations by roll call, 5-0. Councilor Arriaga participated remotely via Zoom and voted affirmatively on each item.

Denise Landerbilt, the License Commission nominee, told the committee she has lived in Chicopee all her life and cited long experience in hospitality and real estate. "I've bartended for, like, 42 years," Landerbilt said. "I've been a real estate agent since 1981. I work with HB Real Estate." Councilors praised her local knowledge and volunteerism before the vote.

Timothy Foley, the Golf Commission nominee, said he has lived in Chicopee for 53 years and worked for the city for 29 years. "I've worked with the city in other capacities as a volunteer event sponsor," Foley said, and expressed a wish to continue the golf course’s success.

Committee members closed public input before each appointment. After the votes, members told the appointees to complete customary onboarding: if the full council approves at the upcoming council meeting, appointees must visit the clerk’s office (by the following Friday, the committee said) to sign the oath/book before beginning duties.

The committee also took a routine vote to approve the minutes from its Dec. 5 meeting; that motion passed by the same 5-0 roll call.

The meeting was brief: five members were present in person and one (Councilor Arriaga) attended by Zoom. No department heads attended and there were no public comments on the appointment items.
