The Chicopee City License Committee voted 5-0 on Jan. 14, 2025, to deny an application from EcoATM LLC for a junk dealer’s license for a kiosk proposed at 1600 Memorial Drive inside the Price Right grocery store after the applicant did not appear for a second consecutive meeting.
Chair of the License Committee said the applicant was not present for the hearing and opened the floor for public input; none was offered. The committee closed public input and then voted to deny the application for item number 1. A roll call recorded five yes votes and the motion passed.
The denial followed an earlier postponement at the chair’s call; committee members said they would consider defeat if the applicant again failed to appear. The committee recorded the vote as five in favor of denial. The committee did not record any additional conditions or discussion because the applicant was absent.
The committee proceeded to other items after the vote. The chair indicated that, if the applicant wishes to pursue a license in the future, the applicant should attend the scheduled hearing or notify the committee office to request another postponement.
