Gadsden ISD launches short budget-priority survey to gather stakeholder input

Superintendent Dempsey told the Gadsden ISD board Feb. 6 that the district will distribute a short budget-priority survey to stakeholders to gather input before the 2025 budget process.
The one-page survey asks respondents to identify their relationship to the district, campus or program, to rate perceived adequacy of current funding, and to prioritize funding categories (for example, teacher salaries, student supports, technology) if additional funds were available. It also includes open-response fields for program suggestions, barriers to student success and general comments.
Board members discussed survey design: several asked that the survey be translated into Spanish, that open responses be allowed sufficient length, and that the district add ranged/scale options to help aggregate answers. Board members suggested the district consider using a professional polling firm in later years for more structured, representative results. Dempsey said the short format is intentional to increase response rates and that results can be disaggregated by campus in PowerSchool for local planning.
Dempsey said preliminary publication can proceed promptly and that the district will use survey results to inform budget workshops and campus-level priorities.
