Gadsden ISD to send student delegation to Santa Fe for STEM festival and legislative visits

Superintendent Dempsey and district staff explained logistics: students will depart Thursday morning from Alta Vista Early College, stop in Las Lunas for lunch, tour the state Capitol and meet with legislators, return to Albuquerque for an overnight stay at a Crown Plaza hotel, then return to the district Friday afternoon. Dempsey said staffing included two sponsors and a bus driver.
The board reviewed schedules and meal arrangements; Dempsey asked board members who volunteered to help with on-site meals to notify staff so purchase orders can be issued. The board did not take a formal vote on the trip during the Feb. 6 meeting; staff presented the itinerary and asked the board to note travel dates and chaperone plans.
The district indicated it will notify campuses, parents and sponsors with logistical details and reminded families of existing permission/medical forms for student travel.
