Cabarrus County tax administrator reports $12.18 million in 2024 delinquent real-property taxes and requests March 30 advertisement

Thrift said the current total due on delinquent real-property tax liens for 2024 is $12,220,698.66. He noted reductions of $37,704.43 for accounts in bankruptcy and $3,525.49 for accounts currently under appeal to the Property Tax Commission, leaving a total outstanding balance of $12,179,468.74.
Thrift advised the board that staff requests the advertisement of those delinquent real-property taxes on March 30, 2025, consistent with the reporting and advertisement schedule under North Carolina law. The Feb. 3 work session transcript records the presentation and the request to advertise; the transcript does not show a recorded vote on the advertisement during the work session.
