Sergeant Adams of the South Lebanon Police Department briefed the council on a recent investigation into porch-package thefts, crediting neighborhood cameras and the city's Flock camera system for rapid progress.
"Between the information we got from not only the victim's houses and their cameras and some other neighbors and our flock cameras, we were able to develop the and, identify the suspect's vehicle within 24 hours," Sergeant Adams said. He told council detectives had located and questioned a likely suspect and that charges would be filed.
Nut graf: Councilors and the police emphasized that timely reporting to dispatch, neighbors sharing footage and the presence of cloud-linked neighborhood cameras can materially improve investigators' ability to identify suspects. Adams urged residents to report incidents to 911/dispatch rather than only posting to social media so investigators have an official record and can gather evidence.
Sergeant Adams noted the Flock camera program has helped solve multiple crimes in the city and thanked council and staff for supporting the program. He said the recent case also yielded coordination with neighboring jurisdictions where the suspect vehicle had been linked to other thefts.
Ending: Council members praised the departments follow-up and reiterated advice to residents to watch for suspicious activity and report it promptly to dispatch while sharing any camera footage with investigators.
