District officials say Hyde Park school is ahead of schedule; Nibley on track as crews shift

The Cache County School District received a construction update on the Hyde Park and Nibley school projects at its February board meeting. Architect Bruce Parker said Hyde Park work is moving faster than expected while Nibley is making steady progress.
Parker told the board the Hyde Park project is "probably about 2 months ahead of schedule" and described recent work including poured second-floor slabs, steel decking and drywall installation inside the building. He said electricians have returned to rough in electrical systems and the gymnasium walls are roughly 10 feet tall.
The update noted that the subcontractor putting up foam-block walls at Hyde Park expects to finish that work in March, then move some of its crew to Nibley to complete the gymnasium. Parker said that handoff could accelerate Nibley by "as much as 5 to 6 weeks." He cautioned the Hyde Park lead may not hold through every remaining trade, but said the early buffer reduces schedule risk.
On Nibley, Parker said the north wall is at full height, the steel structure for a second floor is starting to be installed, and the kitchen floor slab has been poured. He contrasted the two sites, saying Hyde Park has shown more dramatic short-term progress while Nibley remains on schedule.
Parker also briefed the board on a separate elementary school design. He said the design is progressing and that the target date to have final drawings ready to go out to bid is March 24, with a planned bid date of April 10. He told the board contractors reported they were "looking for work" and expected competitive pricing when the district advertises the new elementary project.
Board members asked about outreach; Parker said a community meeting at Cedar Ridge had been held and that feedback was "fairly positive," with no substantive pushback reported. The board requested committee and contact lists produced during reviews be shared with members.
The presentation closed with project-team staffing and procurement planning, including early work on furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) and efforts to coordinate principals and teacher placements in advance of school openings.
