Councilmember Rory Payne Donovan announced at the meeting that he will resign from the Mountlake Terrace City Council.
"I'll be resigning from council, and this will be my last meeting," Payne Donovan said, citing family, health and professional priorities. He called his time on council a privilege and thanked staff, fellow councilmembers and the community for the opportunity to serve.
Mayor Kyoko Matsumoto Wright and other councilmembers offered remarks of gratitude. City Manager Jeff Knighton said staff will distribute a timeline and application process for filling the vacancy; he said official materials and dates will be sent to council and posted for the public on Tuesday, Feb. 11 (town calendar dates were described by staff at the meeting).
