County engineers reviewing Ameren floodplain/compensatory-site concerns; legal billing underway

Committee members said county-hired engineers have reviewed Ameren’s initial drawings for a compensatory site and raised concerns that the compensatory area may be insufficient for the amount of soil moved and that the pond currently proposed showed no outlet. The engineers are preparing comments to send to Ameren through the county attorney. Committee members said they expect a response to be available later in the week and noted the county has received its first legal invoice on the matter; staff will track total attorney costs for possible recovery from Ameren if appropriate.
