The City of Los Banos council on Monday waived second readings and adopted two ordinances that incorporate the 2022 editions of California building and fire codes into the Los Banos Municipal Code.
Ordinance No. 1199, adopted by motion, adds by reference the 2022 editions of the California Building Code, California Energy Code, California Historical Building Code, California Reference Standards Code, California Electrical Code, California Mechanical Code, California Administrative Code, California Existing Building Code, California Green Building Standards Code, California Residential Code and California Plumbing Code into Title 8, Chapter 1 of the Los Banos Municipal Code. Council then moved to waive the second reading and adopted the ordinance as read by title.
Ordinance No. 1200 adopts, by amendment to Title 4, Chapter 3 of the Los Banos Municipal Code, the 2022 edition of the California Fire Code and local amendments. The council voted to waive the second reading and to adopt the ordinance as read by title.
Council member Jones moved to waive the second reading of Ordinance No. 1199 and later moved to adopt it; Miss Lewis seconded the waiver and later seconded the adoption. For Ordinance No. 1200 Council member Jones moved to waive the second reading and then to adopt the ordinance; a second was recorded. The council opened the public hearing for the items, recorded no public testimony and closed the public hearing before taking action. The clerk completed roll call for adoption votes.
The ordinances update Los Banos’ municipal code references to the current state building and fire standards and include local amendments to the fire code. The council did not receive public comment on either item at the hearing and both ordinances were adopted during the meeting.
