Supporters said a Kahoʻolawe plate would commemorate the island’s cultural and historical significance and help fund preservation or education efforts; the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana said more than 350 people signed a preliminary interest petition. "We think this bill is well designed and has the potential to inspire and educate and perpetuate aloha across our communities," said Joshua Kaʻakua for the Protect Kahoʻolawe ʻOhana.
The committee took no controversial amendments and advanced HB307 as filed.
