The City of Oak Creek Common Council voted Feb. 4 to enter a professional services contract with MSA Professional Services Inc. to update the City of Oak Creek Park and Open Space Plan, not to exceed $26,560.
Matt Sullivan, assistant city administrator and city engineer, told the council the city received seven proposals under the request for proposals and that MSA “pretty much checked all the boxes.” He said the work is budgeted and ties to the city’s Strategic Action Plan item to complete the comprehensive outdoor recreation plan in 2025.
Sullivan said the scope includes identifying gaps in sidewalks, trails and other park amenities, producing a consolidated capital improvement program for long-term forecasting, and delivering a GIS/data platform so staff can use the plan and data immediately. He said the contractor will begin work after contracts are finalized with the city attorney and MSA and that the plan is expected to be completed by December 2025.
Council members asked about the project timeline and public engagement. Sullivan said the firm will begin work once the contract is executed and that open public information meetings will be scheduled; council members will be invited to participate in those sessions.
A motion to enter the contract was adopted by roll call; every alderman present voted yes.
Next steps listed in the meeting are finalizing the contract with the city attorney and beginning the consultant’s work under the approved budget.
