Facilities report: performing arts center progress, BHS drop-off and Board of Education renovation advancing

Facilities staff updated the board Feb. 6 on several capital projects, including the district’s performing arts center, site work at Brunswick High School and renovation work at the Board of Education building.
Mister Blackerby said steel work is rising at the performing arts center; the district has reimbursed roughly $1,200,000 to the college for construction out of a $20,000,000 project total and staff estimated the district’s obligation is about 12% complete. At Brunswick High School, Blackerby said the new drop-off awning is finished and awaiting lighting and brick paver work to address drainage; staff said buses used the drop-off during recent rain events.
He said the BHS Field House addition has completed geothermal relocation and was preparing foundation work, and that demolition on Wing 3 of the Board of Education renovation is essentially complete with ductwork and rough electrical underway. Blackerby said weather permitting, asphalt paving of the Board of Education parking lot would start Monday or Tuesday with an expectation to near completion the following week.
He also reiterated that East Plus 4 receipts continue to come in as late payments and cited a recent $27,000 payment; staff said collections for East Plus 5 are on track to begin in April.
