Construction update: Littlestown school addition nearing occupancy for Phase 1; later phases' dates may shift

District staff provided an on-site construction update showing Phase 1 nearing occupancy and identifying remaining items and schedule uncertainty for later phases.
During the construction report, staff said work in Area C and two rooms in Area D will be turned over with the initial Phase 1 occupancy. “All the above ceiling work is done. The above ceiling inspections are complete,” the presenter said, adding that ceiling tile installation across floors and HVAC balancing were in final stages. Staff reported the final inspection by the building department was scheduled for the coming Friday.
The presenter listed completed items: new washer and dryer in the annex boiler-room area, mop-sink panels, interior expansion joints, safety-fence relocation to enable the new bus loop and parking area, concrete sidewalks, and initial final cleaning of classrooms. Reception furniture and a pass-through window for office areas were being installed. Staff reported HVAC balancing and water balancing activities and said some second-floor science-room fixtures had not arrived on schedule and would be installed during the coming week.
Project timing: the presenter recited the original construction start (09/13) and Phase 1 completion date (01/17/25) and said the project is about 16 months into work. Because Phase 1 was late, staff cautioned that Phase 2 and Phase 3 dates are expected to change; contractors had not yet provided revised dates. “That's because we all know that the first phase was late. So we would anticipate those dates changing, but the contractors haven't given us the new dates yet,” the presenter said.
Ending: Staff said they will update the board once contractors provide revised completion dates for later phases and that remaining punch-list items (fixture installs and final balancing) are scheduled in the coming days.
