Littlestown school building nears completion; district plans Jan. 22 student move-in

District staff reported final punch-list work underway on the new building: handrails, casework corrections, curtains and lighting programming; emergency generator and a temporary primary transformer are installed and furniture deliveries have begun.
Littlestown Area SD officials reported that Phase 1 of a new school building is near completion and that high school students are scheduled to move into parts of the facility on Jan. 22.
District staff said the project is on a final punch list with multiple trades finishing work this week. Handrails are scheduled for installation Wednesday and Thursday; nursing-suite flooring has been laid and joints must be welded; curtains for the nurse’s suite are expected to be installed this week; and lighting controls remain in the final programming stage.
The update noted that the emergency generator has been installed and tested. A temporary primary transformer has been placed to support Phase 1 power and, according to district staff, the contractor will switch to a permanent transformer later this summer. Painting, casework and some science-room finishes were described as complete, with ‘‘one or two’’ counter tops requiring replacement for size accuracy.
Furniture deliveries began the same day as the meeting, and staff said contractors are assembling and moving pieces into the new multipurpose spaces and into the building via existing elevators. Officials warned that work on the front circle will be limited during daytime hours once the district occupies the building, and contractors are trying to finish exterior panel work before then.
Project financial summary fields in the presentation were blank; staff said net change and payout numbers were left to be updated after checks issued following a holiday break. Project photos were displayed to the board as part of the update.
District staff expressed thanks to contractors and local partners for the schedule push and said they expect the facility to be ready for students on Jan. 22.
