The director of schools told the board the district used $161,959.37 of that revenue to pay a one‑time bonus before the holidays and recommended allocating the remaining $122,455.63 to other contracted services in the operation of plant category. The board voted to approve the amended FY25 budget as presented. Motion to approve the amendment was made by Gigi Robinson and seconded by Pat Welsh. Disciplinary Hearing Authority (DHA)
Under board policy 06/2017 the director recommended a three‑member disciplinary hearing authority to hear appeals from suspensions longer than 10 days. The board approved appointments of Dr. April Norris (chair), Dr. Shannon Duncan and Mr. Hank Jurden to serve as the DHA. The motion to accept the three appointees was moved by Teresa Lawson, seconded by Andy Witt, and approved by the board.
Approval of teacher tenure
The board approved tenure for 22 educators across the district after supervisors presented short summaries of each candidate’s background and performance. The director reviewed state and policy eligibility criteria — licensed educator, degree from an approved institution, five years of service and required effectiveness scores in the evaluation window — and recommended tenure for the 22 candidates. The motion to accept the 22 recommended teachers for tenure was moved by Pat Welsh and seconded by Gigi Robinson; the board approved the motion by voice/hand vote. Record and next steps
Administrators said the amended budget will be shared with the city (the district’s funding body) and that the disciplinary hearing appointments satisfy the requirements of board policy 06/2017. Staff also noted the monthly financial report was included in the board packet and that county property tax collections had begun to arrive; no further budget action was taken this evening.
