Dave Libby cautioned that some unanticipated work—additional roofing and electrical work tied to the building connection details—has increased costs. He said the district is working with contractors and insurance representatives to settle what costs the district will bear and what will be covered by insurance.
Technology and E‑Rate
Libby and district technology staff said they are collecting vendor pricing to determine whether to use the federal E‑Rate infrastructure component (which typically reimburses roughly half of eligible costs) to replace aging wireless access points in all schools except the recently updated center school. Because the E‑Rate program pays only for certain connectivity hardware and wiring, the district confirmed that other capital projects such as intercoms or fire‑alarm work do not qualify under E‑Rate and would require different funding sources.
Facilities study and town‑meeting warrant article
Separately, committee members and the school facilities study committee discussed drafting a warrant article for a feasibility study to evaluate long-term options for school space and building use. The facilities study committee is preparing options and will work with the select board and town manager to place a recommended feasibility‑study warrant article on a future town-meeting warrant.
