Mid-year transit report: ridership up, on-time performance strong at 98%

Calaveras transit staff presented a mid-year performance report Feb. 5 showing ridership gains and continued high on-time performance.
Transit staff reported an overall ridership increase of 17% for the year, with fixed-route ridership up about 20% and Dial-a-Ride up about 6%. On-time performance remained strong at roughly 98%. Staff attributed part of the ridership increase to high school students and noted that some fare and advertising revenue for the reporting period had not yet been collected, which affected year-to-date revenue numbers.
Operating costs were reported up about 4% year to date, primarily from higher liability insurance costs recorded earlier. Staff said the short-range transit plan RFP will be issued soon to study operational efficiencies; staff also expects to conduct rider surveys to inform future service changes.
