The advisory board unanimously agreed to delay decisions about acquiring parkland until after the city’s parks master plan — currently under consultant review — is complete.
Staff told members an RFP for the master plan had closed and the plan was funded in the current fiscal year. “We would look to defer this until after the master plan is developed because that will let us know what areas we actually need to focus in for parkland acquisition,” Aquatics Manager Devon Pulis said. The board agreed that acting now would be “putting the cart before the horse.”
A board motion to postpone further discussion passed by voice vote; members asked staff to bring acquisition recommendations back once the consultant report identifies priority areas. No funding approvals or land purchases were proposed at the meeting.
