The Colorado Senate on Feb. 3, 2025 approved Senate Bill 52, a measure to make certain Public Utilities Commission (PUC) investigative reports on rail incidents more transparent, and approved amendment L001, which replaced the bill’s safety clause with a petition clause and included an effective-date provision.
The bill, introduced on the floor by a member of the Senate and moved for consideration by Senator Hamilton, was described by sponsor Senator Winter as aimed at increasing public access to PUC investigative reports that are not required to remain confidential.
