Council finalizes committee roster, will place assignments on consent agenda

Gig Harbor City Council reviewed its annual committee assignment list and identified members to serve on a set of regional and local advisory bodies; staff will present the resulting roster on the consent agenda at the next regular meeting for formal approval.
City Clerk Stecker led the review and noted the packet contained the committee list. Stecker told council that some assignments require an elected official and listed existing positions: the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) historically is held by the mayor, Pierce County Regional Council (PCRC) needs a primary and alternate, and airport and airport-related advisory committees have different appointment processes.
Councilmember Farnato expressed interest in serving as the PCRC primary representative; Councilmember Eckford volunteered to be the PCRC alternate. Other members confirmed continuing assignments: Councilmember Rodenberg to the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Committee and the Sister Cities Council, Councilmember Henderson to West Sound Partners for Ecosystem Recovery and the Whisper/Chacoma airport advisory listing. Several members discussed LTAC and noted mayoral involvement and budget implications for that committee.
City Clerk Stecker said she would place the agreed assignments on the next council meeting’s consent agenda for formal approval. There was no formal vote at the study session; council reported consensus around the proposed slate with some items flagged for follow-up with the mayor about mayoral designations.
