The Edmonds City Council committee moved the employment agreement for the executive assistant to the consent agenda after staff revised benefit language to align the position with nonrepresented employees.
HR representative Rayanne explained the primary change clarified that the executive assistant position will be eligible to participate in the same benefit programs (sick leave, vacation, sick leave payout) that the city provides to nonrepresented employees, reversing previous contract language that had limited benefits to those explicitly listed. Rayanne also said the contract reflects 12 furlough days consistent with the nonrepresented workforce and that the council president's annual review window in January allows the contract to be updated so it takes effect in February.
Council Member Chris Eck moved to place the contract on the consent agenda; Council President Neil agreed. Multiple committee members praised the executive assistant's work coordinating communications between the administration and the legislative branch.
No new salary figures or fiscal-impact details were presented in committee; staff said the furlough and benefit alignment mirror citywide nonrepresented terms. The committee recorded no formal roll-call vote in committee, sending the item to the consent agenda for full council consideration.
