Senate approves digitized ID and optional fee changes for mobile licenses (House Bill 1135)

Boyd said the bill “allows for the state to issue a digitized state identification card” and clarifies that the state “does not have to charge $10” for the mobile credential; he said the expectation was the state would likely set the charge to zero initially but the statute would not mandate a fee. The bill carried an emergency clause and passed by roll call.
Senators did not engage in extended debate; the roll call recorded 34 yeas and the bill was returned to the House with the emergency clause adopted.
