The New Canaan Town Council confirmed a slate of committee appointments Wednesday and deferred one pending an in-person interview.
Council members voted unanimously to confirm the reappointments of Maria Weingarten and Chris Labrys as regular members of the Board of Finance for terms ending Nov. 15, 2028, and to confirm Nick Matrakis as a regular member for a four-year term ending Nov. 15, 2026. The council also unanimously confirmed the reappointment of Bill Bradley to the Audit Committee for a three-year term ending Dec. 1, 2027, and reappointed John Fulkerson to the Ethics Board for a three-year term ending Dec. 1, 2027.
The council decided to hold the proposed appointment of Alexandra Safi to the Ethics Board until a future meeting so members who had not met the nominee could interview her. Several council members said they prefer to meet nominees in person before voting. The council noted that town rules call for nominees to be interviewed at a regular meeting unless a special meeting is called for that purpose.
No roll-call vote tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript; minutes record that motions passed unanimously for the items confirmed on Wednesday.
