At the Jan. 23 Board of Selectmen meeting, the town’s public works and department heads reviewed the fiscal 2026 operating and capital requests that will feed into the selectmen and finance board budget process.
Public works director Tiger Mann presented department-level operating changes that together push the public-works budget and related town building costs modestly higher for FY26. The department’s overall request includes a proposed engineering technician position listed at about $100,000, which department leaders said would restore staff capacity for field inspections and construction monitoring. Highway operations showed a slight net decrease year-over-year after department leaders removed an emergency downtown snow-removal line and said they would seek funds as needed from the town’s contingency if a downtown snow event requires outside contractors.
