Environmental Public Works committee approves showmobile fee increase request and forwards landfill purchases and contracts to full board

The St. Clair County Environmental Public Works Committee voted to send multiple items to the full board, including a proposed Parks & Recreation fee increase for showmobile rentals, a purchase of a GM-5000 gas monitor from Diamond Scientific for landfill operations, a landfill technical-support agreement with Sherkey Electric Company, and Materials Management Planning Committee appointments.

Parks and Recreation staff told commissioners the department reviews fees annually and proposed raising the showmobile rental fee to cover operating costs. Staff reported the department traveled about 4,442 miles for showmobile deliveries in 2024 (roughly 50 deliveries annually), performed about 100 total drop-offs and pickups, and that deliveries and pickups average two to four hours with about two hours for cleaning on return. Staff said the prior rental rate was $500 for four days and requested an increase to $750 for four days to better reflect fuel and staffing costs; the committee voted to forward the fee changes to the full board.

On landfill matters the committee approved forwarding a purchase request for a GM-5000 gas monitor from Diamond Scientific to the full board and likewise forwarded a technical-support agreement with Sherkey Electric Company. The Materials Management Planning Committee appointments were also moved to the full board for confirmation. Committee members received monthly Parks and Rec financial documents and an Eagle inspection report for information only before adjourning.
