Engineering firm briefs commissioners on federal grants, March funding window for rural assistance

Representatives from Stalling Engineering told the Fremont County commission that federal grant windows and new rural programs may be available to fund transportation, bridge and water projects.
Greg Benjamin and Justin Landball of Stalling Engineering said the firm provides engineering, bridge and civil work and that it maintains a local presence in Riverton. They urged county staff to consider a time‑sensitive federal Rural-Specific Assistance grant with a March 4 application opening and an April 3 deadline; their presentation noted the program is first-come, first-served and listed $200,000 as a typical minimum for single-project awards.
Benjamin and Landball described services the firm can provide to local governments, including grant writing and preliminary engineering. They said the initial application under the Rural-Specific Assistance program generally does not fund construction but can support preliminary engineering, site surveys and additional grant writing needed to pursue larger construction grants.
Stalling Engineering provided county officials with contact information and brochures and said it can assist with a range of local government needs — bridges, transportation, water/wastewater and survey work — and can subcontract for specialties the firm does not provide in-house.
