The Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Audit Committee discussed revisions to its charter on Feb. 6 and directed staff to prepare an updated draft for a subsequent meeting.
Committee members reviewed proposed edits including removal of the word "presentation" in a responsibility phrase (reflecting that audits are not routinely presented to the Board), and they noted an earlier change to quorum language. A board member asked that the charter explicitly require at least one accounting professional on the committee. Staff said they would make the requested edits, return the revised charter for another review and that the item was a first read rather than a final vote.
"I think it should say, at some place in there should include at least one accounting professional," a board member said, and staff agreed to incorporate that language. The committee did not vote to adopt the charter at the Feb. 6 meeting; the document will return for additional review after edits are made.
