Lake County supervisors outline upcoming homelessness, utility and community meetings

Supervisor Sabate said she will attend a National Association of Counties Health Steering Committee meeting and will brief local human services and the public health officer on federal proposals she is tracking. She noted a Blue Zones meeting and a Lake County Continuum of Care (CoC) hub advisory meeting organized with Adventist Health to improve connections once people are entered into the county’s HMIS (Homeless Management Information System). Sabate also listed a judge’s breakfast and meetings with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture among her upcoming engagements, and said she plans to meet with Supervisor Gore of Sonoma County to discuss Gore’s senate run. She said she will meet with the public defender, behavioral health and social services director to discuss CoC coordination.
Supervisor Owen reported a schedule heavy with constituent meetings and named specific items including a meeting on the Gwynock Ranch (Maha Lotus Land) project and outreach to Cal Fire. Owen said he is arranging staff meetings and exploring community projects, and mentioned informal efforts to bring a bass-fishing event back to the county.
Vice Chair Rasmussen summarized recent and upcoming community work, including attendance at LAFCO and EMCC meetings, several committee meetings and participation in a Martin Luther King Day event in Clear Lake. Rasmussen said he met with the chamber director and Supervisor Pyska and has been working with the Big Valley Committee on recruiting applicants; he noted one appointment made that day and a second appointment expected on the 11th. Rasmussen said Scotts Valley voted to begin broadcasting and recording its meetings starting in March, and that he has met with staff from both county hospitals on community programs. Rasmussen said he will attend the CoC meeting and the memorial for Vicente.
Another supervisor reported an East Region town hall hosted by Golden State Natural Resources at the Moose Lodge in Clear Lake Oaks, and a CSA No. 2 meeting in Spring Valley. That supervisor also listed a biomass cohort meeting with the Shasta Valley North Coast group, an ad hoc geyser meeting, and a CAO check-in among near-term items.
The board also discussed logistics for advisory committee calendars: Supervisor Sabate said she would ask administrative staff to add a supervisor to the mailing list and request a year-long calendar so meeting dates are not missed. An advisory planning commission (APC) date was clarified as falling on the twelfth of the month at 9 a.m., depending on holidays.
Several supervisors said they will attend a candlelight vigil and memorial for Vicente at Library Park on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (time given in the meeting as 07:30 p.m.). Vice Chair Rasmussen and others noted participation in a Central Region Town Hall (CERF) on the following Monday by Zoom and plans to travel to Washington, D.C., for the National Congress of American Indians.
