JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri State Capitol Commission elected Representative Rudy Veith as chair and Joe Engler as vice chair, voted to form a three‑member master‑plan subcommittee and moved forward with consultant work to produce updated master‑plan options aimed at bringing projected construction costs within the commission’s available funding.
Veith was elected chair by a 9‑0 roll call. “I do not intend to undo what's been done, but I intend to follow the guidelines the commission's already doing,” Representative Rudy Veith said after his election, adding that his priority is to keep the project moving and to avoid cost escalation. By 7‑2 roll call, the commission elected Joe Engler, chief clerk of the Missouri House, as vice chair; Lieutenant Governor Wasinger and Commissioner Zellers voted no on that ballot.
