On the dais Walters said the address listed in committee materials appeared to be at Western and Olympic, an intersection she described as already overbuilt, and said she was concerned that another large structure would exacerbate public‑right‑of‑way and sidewalk encroachment. Planning Department staff advised the council the application address is 2222 West Olympic Boulevard at Olympic and Grandview (Grandview Street), which falls in Council District 1. Councilmember Hernandez and staff described the site as part of a commercial quarter near Sixth and Wilshire with nearby public uses and new private investment and moved approval.
After the roll call the clerk recorded 10 ayes and one no (Walters) and the motion carried. Walters said she would oppose the project because of concerns about scale and compatibility with adjacent developments.
The council action implements the planning approvals recommended by the department and the applicable committee, and the item proceeded after the location was confirmed on the record.
