Airport master plan nears completion; authority schedules public open house and USU‑backed airfest set for June

Consultants told the Logan‑Cache Airport Authority that the airport master plan is complete from a technical standpoint and needs a final public open house before the FAA’s final review.

Walker engineer Judd and project staff said technical advisory committees have reviewed the plan and the recommended next step is a public open house to present the layout plans and answer community questions. The board discussed possible dates in late March and noted potential conflicts with local aviation events and a statewide conference; members suggested the second Saturday in April as an alternative to attract pilots attending the airport’s fly‑in.

Separately, Professor Baron, representing the Division of Aeronautics, announced a community airfest: a one‑day open house scheduled for Saturday, June 28, with rehearsal and practice flights the preceding Friday. The Division will host an aeronautical education training conference on the Friday; planned performers include regional aerobatic pilots and local demonstrations. The event will be free to the public, with parking and shuttle plans under discussion and close coordination with the FBO and airport staff.

Consultants recommended that the public open house for the master plan be held at a hangar or other airport facility so the public can view plan boards on site; the board asked staff to identify a host hangar and confirm availability. The board selected March 13 as its next regular meeting date and asked staff to schedule the master‑plan open house and the fly‑in/airfest outreach consistent with airport scheduling and community events.

No board vote was required; staff will return with confirmed dates and a public‑outreach plan.
