Animal control to revert to ISOMS for rabies and bite-tracking; expects modest savings

LaSalle County animal control told the Public Safety Committee it will switch back to the ISOMS software used by the sheriff's office for tracking rabies tags and bite reports.
An Animal Control Officer explained the prior change to a different software was intended to ease receipt of rabies-tag reports from veterinary clinics but had been ‘‘frustrating’’ to manage. The officer said reverting to ISOMS will allow sheriff's staff to independently look up bite-dog or rabies-tag information and is expected to save the department ‘‘a couple thousand dollars a year’’ because the county already pays for ISOMS.
No formal vote was needed beyond acceptance of the department report; the committee had no further questions.
